RE: Conditions Report on Trail sections that were inspected

Spooky Beavers:  Thanks to Mike Ca, Tim C, Allen W and
Mike Cu for coming out on Saturday to clear blowdowns and move foot
bridges and bog  bridges back into position  on portions of the North and
South Valley trails  We cleared 5 blowdowns and put 4 foot bridges and an 80 foot long bog bridge back into position along about 2.7 miles of trail. Thanks to Allen W for serving as our sawyer.

We will continue our efforts on Sunday as well.  Meet the PATC shed at 8:00 am.  Please be sure to wear a mask upon arrival until we can get on the trail and space out beyond 6 feet.    If you’re arriving later, please text me at (703) 376-4150 so I can let you know where to meet me or where you can assist by hiking a trail section that has not yet been assessed.

On Sunday, we’re planning to move about a 25 foot long footbridge with
handrails on SVT back into position using a grip hoist, so if you’ve never
seen one in action, this would be a good time to come out.  After that, it
will be likely back to blowdown and smaller foot bridge work on other trail sections.  We’ll work until about 2:00 pm, or until folks  want to go home.

If  you would be available to assist the park staff on a weekday next week, please let me know what days and times you will be available, and I will connect you with the park staff.

As the flood damage to the park’s trail system is extensive, at this time I am planning work trips next Saturday and Sunday, again starting at 8:00 am at the PATC shed.  Please let me know if you can assist.

Drop me a note or give me a call if questions.
