Trail Maintenance Volunteer Opportunity with the Potomac Appalachian Trail Club at Prince William Forest Park.
Come celebrate National Trails Day on Saturday, June 1st, 2019, by giving back to the trails you love to hike at Prince William Forest Park, Triangle, VA., by volunteering with. the Potomac Appalachian Trail Club to help maintain the park’s 37 miles of hiking paths. Volunteers must be at least 12 years old and should dress for the weather, wear footwear appropriate for hiking, be prepared to hike 1-3 miles with tools. Bring a daypack with at least two liters of water, trail snacks and lunch, bug spray, work gloves, and a hat.
No experience is necessary. All tools and on-the-job training are provided. No need to bring any personal tools from home. Weather permitting, we may be painting blazes on trees to guide hikers along the path. Please wear clothes you don’t mind getting paint on if you’d like to help with painting blazes.
Meet at Prince William Forest Park, Telegraph Pavilion Area parking lot (Past the Visitor Center and at the far eastern edge of the park) by 8:00 am to sign in. Work will commence promptly at 9:00 am. Work is scheduled until 2:30 pm, but volunteers may leave early as you like.
