National Public Lands Day – Saturday – 9-28-2019

Sorry, folks, it’ been  a long week, so I apologize for the late notice.
Showtime for the National Public Lands Day event, Saturday, 28 Sep, is
at 8:30 am in the Pine Grove Picnic Area parking lot.  The work party will
likely depart for the Oak Ridge parking lot by 9:10 am or so.

We have two projects on the back end of the Farm to Forest Extension Trail. One is a footbridge replacement project of about 20 feet (no hand rails). The other is nearby, but just replaces the footers on a bog bridge.

A third project is possible if we get enough volunteers from the public.
Jim Dean has asked for assistance in clearing and re-grading water diversion devices on the Farm to Forest Tr.

Volunteers from the public have been told their work time is about 9:00 am to noon.  So, my priority is to get the new wood to the back of F2F Extension Tr.  I’d also like to build the new structures, so I’m hoping there’s enough crew members who will stay longer to do the rebuilding.  Otherwise, those who can only stay 3 hours will be asked to carry the new wood and materials to the F2F Ext Tr site and depart, or work with Jim Dean on his water diversions and depart.

I’ve been told we have up to 30 volunteers from the public, so depending on age and physical condition, we should be able to at least get the wood to the site.

If you miss us at Pine Grove, you can join us on the F2F or F2F Ext Trail.
Stay on the left hand side of the figure 8 of the two trails to find the
work sites.

As usual, bring water, trail lunch, bug spray, and dress for the weather.

Mark
