Continuation of Footbridge Project 06-07-2019

Spooky Beavers:  Thanks to Dennis C, Stacey B, Steve O, Andy S, Tim C, and Leif W for their help last Saturday in moving lumber, screws, and tools to  build a new 20-foot-long footbridge in the middle of the South Valley Trail between Oak Ridge Campground and Mawavi Rd, about a 1.5 mile hike to the worksite. And then carrying out two very water logged 16 foot long sections of 6” x 6” pieces of lumber.  We were not able to carry out the old footboards, and actually had to use some of them to complete the footbridge.

So, phase 2 of this project will take place this Saturday, June 8, 2019 to carry about 10 more new 3 foot long footboards, screws, and tools to the site to complete the footbridge, and then carry out the old footboards and an extra cable back to Mawavi Rd.   Meet at the Pine Grove Picnic Area Parking Lot by 9:00 am.  Hopefully we’ll be joined by a group of Marines to help us.  I suggest you bring a backpack if you don’t want to carry the lumber or tools in your hands or balanced on your shoulders.  I’ll bring a couple of mine.

Again, note we are meeting at the Pine Grove Picnic Area parking lot by 9:00 am.  Please let me know if you can make it.

Otherwise, our next scheduled crew work trip is on Saturday, 13 July.  Meet at the Turkey Run Education Center parking lot by 9:00 am .
